When hiring a vehicle the driver is liable for the vehicle, including but not limited to all relevant driving laws and regulations, penalty charge notices and any damages to the vehicle or to third parties.

Vehicle hire companies in the UK do not sell insurance to their customers. The driver is fully liable for the vehicle, any third party claims or costs to AJ Tour Services Ltd. We do have a fully comprehensive insurance policy in place and determinant on compliance with all terms and conditions your damage liability is limited to £750.

No smoking is permitted in hire vehicles. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the condition to which it was hired, with fuel and Ad-Blue returned at the same levels, free from rubbish, stains, and damage. Additional charges will occur if these expectations are not met.

Prior to the commencement of any hire, we will need to inspect the license of all drivers intending to use the policy. Drivers must meet the following criteria to be covered under our self-drive hire:

• Be aged 25+ and carry a full UK licence for 2 years minimum.
• Have no more than 6 points on their licence- Two, three point convictions are acceptable. Single 4 point offences are acceptable. Single 6 point SP30, SP50 and CU80 may be acceptable subject to a £1000 excess. Any ban or disqualification in the past five years will require referral.
• No more than one fault or outstanding incident/claim within the last three years.  

Prior to the hire we will require the following from all drivers:

• Scan of photo card drivers’ licence (address and ID must be up to date) 
• Scans of two proof of address from separate sources (Utilities bill/statement, broadband, council tax, TV licence, bank statement, credit card bill/statement, mortgage statement, polling card, HMRC self-assessment/ tax credit, student loan, payslip, mobile phone bills, pension letters, car finance statement, loan statement, property deed)*
• Signed rental agreement.
• We’ll need to carry out an online licence check.

*An annual council tax bill will be accepted. All other documents must be dated within 90 days of the hire date. The address and name on your licence must match your documents.
